A Sensational Sunday

Here's a little peek at what we've been up to today. I guess you'd call it a pretty typical Sunday for the Kaspareks (minus all the wardrobe changes - Camden's on outfit #3 for some reason).

After church, my assistant bakers help me make some banana bread. Enjoying some lunch...
Racing cars with Daddy...
If I look this cute sitting here, do I have to take a nap??!
After nap: ready to play ball for the Cubs!
Red Sox and Cubs fans unite!
Go Red Sox!!!
(We're gearing up for the big game against the Mariners on the 16th!)

Bum Knee Update

Chris spent the morning at the E.R. when he woke up with his sore red knee now turning shades of purple (it was ugly). I'll spare you the gory play by play, but the doc said it was a good thing he came in, because it was infected. Nurse Emma and Camden are back on duty today! :)

BOOOOOOO Bursitis

I'm sure Chris will go into more detail on his running blog, but the condensed version is that Chris has a nasty inflammation of his bursa joint in his knee. Joking around with him (all in love of course!) I asked him what would hurt more: me punching his knee right now or me punching his shoulder right after his surgery. Answer: knee!
It is a beautiful afternoon here in Washington, but what are my kids doing? Keeping Daddy company watching a Star Wars Marathon on TV. I must admit that it was pretty cute when Emma saw Yoda and said, "Hey! I was that thing for Halloween!" (Gosh I'm glad she has the Seaward memory!) Too bad extra love and attention from Nurse Emma doesn't immediately cure Bursitis!

Detective Work

The past week, as I battled the flu and Chris battles his bum knee, we were on a mission to find our camera that we hadn't seen since Easter brunch. Chris scoured the house and car while I call our brunch hostess and had her looking for it. Low and behold Chris found the camera under the desk. I have my suspicion on who may have placed it there...
Without further adieu I present to you: Easter 2009:

Oh look, an entire bowl of M&Ms!

Emma was so excited to finally wear her new dress and shoes!

Teaching Our Faith

There is nothing that thrills me more than a curious mind. Our beloved Emma, like many other 4 year-olds, is full of questions! There is a lot to find out about this big world we live in and by golly, she wants to know it all!
Going to church 2 evenings in a row this week was bound to the get questions rolling. Here's a sample of a few conversations we've had...
Chris: Emma, what do you think Jesus looked like?
Emma: You know Daddy, he looks like the pictures in my books.
Emma: Why did Jesus die?
Vanessa: He died and went to Heaven and now he's watching over all of us.
Emma:Who's in Heaven with him?
Vanessa: Your Great Grandpas and Grandmas, Reggie (she often asks where our dog is)...
Emma:...and Camden's Santa Fish

Mission: EGGS!

Let the Easter Egg hunts begin! Emma had a wonderful time hunting for eggs at school yesterday afternoon and then we came home and headed up to our neighborhood park for our home owners association egg hunt By the way...check out those snazzy new windows on our house! :)

Ms. Emma Cotton Tail hopping down the bunny trail
Camden picked up this egg and yellow egg then he was content to find out what was inside
them. Checking out their goods and.....

A flashback to last year doing the same thing!
(Can you believe how much they've grown?!)

This afternoon we headed to the base for another egg hunt. Chris's staff did a marvelous job organizing this great event!
Claire and Emma are so excited to get their eggs!
Camden was a great little gatherer today! I think he's getting the hang of it!

Showing of that stellar smile!
Emma is hard at work filling her basket
Our little egg hunters found all sorts of treasures!

A New Sport?

I think Camden might be on to something... putting the football on the tee and then hitting it with a golf club! Could he be a future Olympian in this sport?
(Yes, I am uber embarrassed that our dead Christmas tree is in the background!) Emma gives Camden's new sport a 10!
Now off to a sport we all love-bike riding! Camden is breaking in Emma's old tricycle.
Our boy with his big ole head has outgrown his bike helmet. He is still super cute!
Our next sport of the day was bubble blowing. I am impressed with both of their skills!
A new favorite shot of my favorite boy!

Hippity Hoppity Easter's On Its Way!

The Easter spirit is in the Kasparek house! The kids were waving their palm branches like pros this morning at church and we are getting ready for Holy Week. Emma is having an Easter Egg hunt at school on Friday and she was one busy little bee stuffing plastic eggs with candy.
Last night we dyed eggs. I thought 20 would be plenty, but they were begging for more when those were quickly colored. Chris and I were trying to perfect our triple colored eggs, but the other 2 artists in the family just wanted to plop the eggs in the bowls and stir them around.

If you want an egg salad sandwich or deviled eggs this week, come on over! :)

The Splinter

Spring was begging us to come outside and play yesterday afternoon so we headed out to our favorite local trail for a hike.

Mr. Cool (a.k.a. Camden Lee) is ready to roll... A priceless picture of my 2 favorite guys!
Taking a break to be cats along the trail...
For those of you who know our Emma, she is not a fan of dogs. Our little adventurer struck out ahead of us on the trail and met up with a rather large husky and his owners. Her plan: hide under the table and maybe the dog won't notice her. :)
"Here I come!"
And so our wonderful afternoon takes a turn for the worst right about now...
Emma (pretending to be a cat) gets a splinter.
To us: not a big deal.
To Emma: you would have thought she had a cedar log sticking in her pointer finger.
After an unpleasant hike back to the car and the ride home, Chris finally convinces Emma that he needs to take the splinter out. Cartoons on TV and even her eye mask- just in case-Emma was distracted enough to let dad do his thing.
The splinter is now taped into Emma's baby book as a memory of this day. ;)

4 Year-Olds' Day in Seattle

Yesterday we celebrated "the big kids" and had a 4 year-olds only day in Seattle (without those sometimes pesky little siblings tagging along). The 3 Musketeers were reunited for an afternoon of fun at the Pacific Science Center and dinner at the Rainforest Cafe.

Emma & Claire playing with Polly Pockets on the ferry.Emma and the Space Needle!
Holding onto a whale's back in the Seattle Center fountain area.
Exploring inside the science center: Logan, Claire, and Emma had fun climbing on the caterpillar.

The Rock Band
Pilot Logan is taking the girls for a ride in a helicopter.
We had an AWESOME dinner right next to the elephants at the Rainforest Cafe.
